Following Global Digital Transformation Trends; AI, HPC, and Cybersecurity Among Top Best Choice Award 2022 Categories

 Publish Date :2022/05/19

Asia’s leading B2B ICT exhibition, COMPUTEX will return to Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 (TaiNEX 1) from May 24 to 27. The online COMPUTEX CYBERWORLD platform is also used to provide a true hybrid experience for interested parties who cannot join the on-site event. One of the organizers of COMPUTEX, Taipei Computer Association (TCA) stated that digital transformation has become one of the main trends in the global industry as well as governance.

As such, COMPUTEX continues to develop its capabilities and capacity as the one-stop hardware & solution procurement service for global manufacturers, system integrators, telecom companies, and other purchasers. The COMPUTEX CYBERWORLD platform is used to further enhance COMPUTEX to provide this service without geographic limitations and to further expand the exhibitors and participants’ reach throughout the world.

TCA reported that as the official award of COMPUTEX, the Best Choice Award (abbreviated as BC Award) 2022 was joined by a number of well-known companies including Gigabyte, E Ink, Chenbro, AAEON, Systech, AEWIN Tech, Trend Micro, and more. The categories for this year are also expanded to come in line with the latest trends in the ICT industry; adding AI, HPC, and cybersecurity into the categories.

AI, particularly Edge AI computing will provide more industrial applications in the vertical market such as smart manufacturing, smart retail, security monitoring, robotics, and improve efficiency. HPC (High Performance Computing) can share the computing power requirement for AI Training and data analysis; reducing the complexity of the IT architecture needed for the same purpose as well as improving the system users’ energy efficiency.

One of the main concerns in digital transformation is cybersecurity. With the increased frequency and intensity in cyber-attacks, improved and appropriate cybersecurity measures become increasingly important. For enterprises, this is the responsibility of the CISO who will have to take the proper security measures and implement adequate countermeasures as part of their digital transformation efforts.

Global Digital Transformation Technology Spending to Reach USD 1.8 Trillion in 2022; Growth Mainly Contributed by AI and HPC

According to an IDC report, the global spending for enterprise digital transformation or DX technologies will reach USD 1.8 Trillion by the end of 2022. This marks a 17.6% growth compared to 2021 and it is expected to continue to grow at a similar rate from 2022 to 2026 with a 5-year CAGR of 16.6%. The report expects the 3 priorities of digital transformation in 2022 to include Back Office Support and Infrastructure, Smart Manufacturing, and Digital Supply Chain Optimization. From an industry perspective, the discrete and process manufacturing industries will account for nearly 30% of worldwide DX spending this year, followed by the professional services and retail industries.

TCA stated that digital transformation will lead to the generation of a large amount of data that will need to be calculated, processed, and stored. AI that can actively analyze the data, reduce the amount of required storage, and provide instantaneous responses. At the same time, HPC can improve the efficiency of data analysis, enhance the storage and management of big data, as well as reduce the IT (information technology) and OT (operational technology) data management load. The trends today indicate that built-in AI devices and HPC servers have become essential technologies; which is why COMPUTEX 2022 exhibitors may highlight products of the categories.

BC Award 2022 to Include a Dedicated Cybersecurity Category Following the Growing Importance of Cybersecurity

According to the research agency MarketsandMarkets, the global cybersecurity market will grow from USD 217.9 Billion in 2021 to USD 345.4 Billion in 2026 with a CAGR of 9.7%. The main driving force of this growth is the need to improve the existing cybersecurity infrastructure, especially in terms of cyber-attack prevention and countermeasures in the vertical market and cross-industry applications.

TCA stated that the trends of digital transformation point to the increasing importance of cybersecurity; even in a national, social, and enterprise level. In addition, the Taiwanese government has also been promoting the “Cybersecurity is National Security 2.0” strategy, which aims to further strengthen Taiwan’s cybersecurity capabilities.

To drive the development of cybersecurity products and services, TCA has expanded the BC Award 2022 to include the BC Award – Cybersecurity awards. The goal is also to explore Taiwan’s excellent cybersecurity products and services, then promote them globally with the BC Award to further expand their reach and market potential.

Cybersecurity covers a broad range of categories. For individual/ home users, the most common products will be e-commerce cybersecurity related. For government and enterprises, the needs will be more varied and at the same time, more stringent as the cybersecurity products and solutions will need to be able to function for a variety of devices, infrastructures, purposes, and requirements.

Analyzing the type of products and services entered into this year’s BC Award – Cybersecurity awards; the entrants ranged from endpoint security devices, Secure IP Cryptoprocessor, APT Attack Protection solutions, XDR Solutions, AI Security services, and more. These products and solutions are compatible with major vendors’ products & services as well as integrate with Netcom equipment manufacturers to further improve the product competitiveness of their products.

Cybersecurity will be one of the main topics of the InnoVEX Forum. Titled “The Opportunities and Challenges of Zero-Trust Security”, the event will be held on May 26 from 10.00 to 12.00 (GMT +8). The forum invited speakers from 5 cybersecurity companies to share their insights on cyber threats and opportunities in Taiwan as well as an introduction to possible solutions.

Interested parties can register for the forum via the InnoVEX ONLINE platform.
