COMPUTEX 2022 Opened with Speeches from VIPs and BC Award Winners Announcement

COMPUTEX 2022 finally began on May 24 both onsite and online. The opening ceremony was held in Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (TaiNEX 1), 4F and was attended by the President of ROC, Dr. Tsai Ing-Wen; Minister Wang Mei-Hua of the Ministry of Economic Affairs; Mr. Paul Peng, Chairman of Taipei Computer Association (TCA) and CEO of AUO; Chairman James Huang, Chairman of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA); as well as various industry leaders and representatives from international trade offices and global companies.

In her speech, President Tsai stated that the over 40 years history of COMPUTEX has not only grown with Taiwan’s ICT industry, but also became an important platform for the global high-tech industry. At the same time, COMPUTEX is also a showcase of Taiwan’s strength in ICT; as well as a way to further strengthen international cooperation and to connect with the global market. She also stated that many of today’s growing technology trends such as AI, quantum computers, cloud computing, and other technologies will be highly dependent on chips. Taiwan can leverage its strengths in high-tech manufacturing and join together with other industries such as smart machinery or smart healthcare to further improve Taiwan’s economy.

Mr. Paul Peng stated that Taiwan’s businesses has grown during the pandemic as the shift in geopolitics and travel restrictions encouraged more people to rely on the internet which enables Taiwanese companies to bypass geographic limitations. Taiwan is actively creating innovative ecosystems and high value software-hardware integration services in 5G, IoT, cybersecurity, and other fields. This encouraged many international companies have established R&D centers in Taiwan to leverage Taiwan’s excellent technical talents in software and hardware to develop various new applications of AI, metaverse, IoT, and embedded systems.

The opening ceremony also saw the announcement of the winners of the official award of COMPUTEX: the Best Choice Award. In total there are 29 winning products from industry leading companies including GIGABYTE, Realtek, MSI, G.Skill, Trend Micro, PLANET Technology, AAEON, ASRock, Jorjin, Chenbro Micom, MiTAC, E Ink, Kenmec, Beseye, Acer, Wincomm, ArmorX, PUFsecurity, CHT Security, Openfind, Maxnerva Tech, Coolso, and more. The winning products cover 5 major digital transformation trends including metaverse, gaming & entertainment, HPC, AI, and Cybersecurity.

The winner of BC Award’s highest honor, the Best Choice of the Year is the Realtek RTD2892NND. There are 6 products that won the Golden Award: Realtek RTD2892NND AI Super Resolution Fidelity Recovery IC, Trident Z5 RGB, Titan GT77 gaming laptop, Jorjin J7EF Gaze, Kenmec Industrial 5G NR IoT Gateway, and AAEON Technology Embedded Edge AI computing Workstation. Winners of the BC Award will be displayed in the Best Choice Award Pavilion in TaiNEX 1 4F Booth L0217a and the BC Award Virtual Pavilion.

COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2022 will continue until May 27 and the online COMPUTEX CYBERWORLD Platform will be online until June 30. During the event, COMPUTEX CYBERWORLD will also feature new events debuting this year: Technology Unboxing and Featured Product Launch.
