2022 RISC-V Taipei Day Gathers Global Industry Leaders to Discuss RISC-V Applications in Smart & Electric Vehicles
Publish Date :2022/08/19
RISC-V based chips have grown in both development and adoption; especially in automotive applications. Leveraging this trend, the RISC-V TAIWAN Alliance (RVTA) will hold the 2022 RISC-V Taipei Day on September 15 with focus on the application of RISC-V architecture-based chips in the smart vehicle and electric vehicle industries. The onsite event will feature representatives from RISC-V International, Intel, Andes Technology, SiFive, Imagination Technologies, Microchip Technology, DIGITIMES, as well as other industry leaders and experts.
The forum will cover topics ranging from the growing application trends of RISC-V, the establishment of RISC-V ecosystems, the popularization strategy of RISC-V architecture, innovative designs using RISC-V chips for automotive applications, and more.
The Next Application of RISC-V will be Automotive Electric Modules
The first keynote speaker in the event will be the CEO of RISC-V International, Calista Redmond who will share the topic of “RISC-V Everywhere”. The keynote will cover the unprecedented global momentum, cross industry adoption, and profound innovation acceleration of RISC-V.
The second keynote speech will be delivered by Frankwell Lin, Chairman and CEO of Andes Technology and Board of Director of RISC-V International. His keynote speech is titled “RISC-V Trend is Unbeatable” and will review the trends of RISC-V from various aspects, such as ISA development, strategic development in worldwide markets, and expansion in emerging applications, especially in the highlighted automotive area.
Gary Martz, Senior Director of Intel Foundry Services, RISC-V Enablement will join the forum to talk about Intel’s Investments in the RISC-V Ecosystem. The forum will also discuss Intel’s strategies and plans to invest in the technologies and partnerships to help RISC-V achieve commercial success.
Industry Leading Companies Discuss the Applications and Developments of Electronic Modules for Smart and Electric Vehicles
To expand the scope of the event, the 2022 RISC-V Taipei Day also invited speakers from industry leaders and experts to present real-life applications of RISC-V architecture. The speakers will include representatives from Andes Technology, SiFive, Imagination Technologies, Microchip Technology, DIGITIMES, and more. The presentations will cover the latest chips and application scenarios of RISC-V architecture as well as how to accelerate the development of RISC-V solutions for automotive electronics through the advantages of RISC-V flexibility and rapid development.
One of the speakers in this section is Dr. Charlie Su, President and CTO of Andes Technology. His speech will examine a wide range of RISC-V applications from automotive, mobile, AIoT, storage, 5G networks to datacenters, and how RISC-V solutions and ecosystem development help drives its fast adoptions and gain advantages over competition.
Tommy Lin, Senior Manager of Product Marketing form SiFive will introduce SiFive’s RISC-V processors for automotive and safety critical applications. In this presentation, SiFive will discuss its automotive initiatives including its first ASIL-ready processor and its roadmap that will deliver an end-to-end portfolio of safety-capable RISC-V IP with all necessary features for future automotive applications.
Discussing the growing needs of heterogeneous computing, James Syu, Senior Principal and Application Engineer of Imagination Technologies will introduce Imagination Technologies’ first Licensable RISC-V Catapult CPU: the IMG RTXM-2200. RTXM-2200 is the ideal real-time core for packet management, storage controllers, networking, SoC helper cores, and smart metering that represents the first step of a fully heterogeneous solution.
For embedded solutions, Vishakh Rayapeta, Senior Technical Staff Engineer for FPGA Applications of Microchip Technology will introduce the PolarFire® SoC FPGA, the first RISC-V based SoC FPGA that enables thermally elegant designs with defense grade security built for IoT. PolarFire® SoC FPGA adds simultaneous deterministic real-time application and rich Linux® OS capabilities to its portfolio of mid-range FPGAs.
To explore the future business potentials of RISC-V; Tom Lo, Analyst and Research Manager of DIGITIMES will discuss the current situation of semiconductor, the competitive advantages of the Asia Pacific region in the semiconductor industry, and changes in semiconductor industries in the sub-fields (equipment, design, manufacturing, packaging, etc.), observing the growth and development of RISC-V in the Asia Pacific Region.
Everyone interested in the RISC-V architecture and its applications in automotive electronics can sign up to join the event onsite or to receive a livestreaming link.
