MediaTek at COMPUTEX 2026: AI Everywhere | Era of Agentic AI from Edge to Cloud

 Publish Date :2026/07/22

▲In his keynote address, MediaTek President and COO Joe Chen explores the evolution of artificial intelligence from generative models to autonomous, agentic systems. Chen spotlights how massive global investments and breakthroughs in cloud and edge computing are driving a new era of "AI Everywhere"—where intelligent agents reason, collaborate, and proactively assist across our daily lives and devices.

At the COMPUTEX 2026 Pre-Show Forum, Joe Chen, President and COO of MediaTek, gave a keynote titled "AI Everywhere | Era of Agentic AI from Edge to Cloud." Chen outlined the industrial shift from Generative AI to Agentic AI (distinguished by its capacity for reasoning, judgment, and autonomous action), supported by massive global AI infrastructure investments and the open-source ecosystem. Agentic AI is revolutionizing consumer products and user experiences by delivering proactive, real-time, and hyper-personalized experiences.

Chen defined Agentic AI UX by five key features: being proactive and real-time by anticipating needs rather than waiting for commands; personalized understanding through short-term and long-term memory; interactive collaboration enabling multi-device communication for seamless tasks; continuous learning that evolves alongside the user; and a privacy-centric focus on secure data storage on-device or in the cloud.

Chen illustrated practical applications across three scenarios — travel, where AI glasses and smartphones work in tandem to identify surroundings and provide real-time recommendations; driving, where agents coordinate schedules to proactively optimize daily routines; and work, where work agents streamline email processing, summarize information, and assist in decision-making.

To enable this shift, MediaTek is positioning itself across four key areas: the edge layer, system layer, application layer, and infrastructure layer (MediaTek’s “Agentic OS” platform and MediaTek Dimensity Developer Center’s AI development tools). MediaTek envisions a symbiotic relationship between cloud compute for heavy lifting and LLM training, and edge compute for low-latency, private, and personal AI tasks — creating a "hybrid cloud" where tokens flow between edge devices and the cloud to power these next-generation experiences.
